Which Type of Fiber Called the Dark Fiber?

Which Type of Fiber Called the Dark Fiber?: One my friend was working in Saudi Arabia for STC (Saudi Telecom Company)-Building No.01,Mursalat-King Abdul Aziz Road, he was saying that once a question  was asked in the friend circle in my department what is the Dark Fibe? He was saying that mostly friend replied that black color fiber is called the dark fiber. Someone told that one fiber cable is yellow color and other one is black color cable, that black color cable is called the dark fiber. The third said, 'What do we have to do with yellow and black? He was laughing & saying this story, really I was very surprised.

Today I would like to write about the Dark Fiber. I will try to explain why called the dark fiber?what is the dark fiber & why do we need it? In the telecom sector you have often heard that this is the route of dark fiber, this is not a unknown word for telecom friends.Dark Fiber often has better signal strength and is more immune to interference than the fibre making up traditional networks.

Which Type of Fiber Called the Dark Fiber?
Why called the dark fiber?
what is the dark fiber & why do we need it?

Dark Fiber means unused fiber, no light in the fiber means there is no data being transported. We all knows data is transported over optical fiber networks by passing light through the cables. If data not transported means there are no light in the fiber this means that the fiber is dark. Dark Fiber is a optical fiber infrastructure that is not in use.Dark fiber is unused optical fiber that has been laid but is not currently being used in fiber-optic communications. Because fiber-optic cable transmits information in the form of light pulses, a dark cable refers to one through which light pulses are not being transmitted. I think now you have understand that what is the dark fiber & why called the dark fiber.
Thousands of miles of dark fiber across the world by the telecom operators, telecom companies have installed additional fiber optic systems. Telecom companies assume that they will be able to lease those dark fibers to cable TV, telephone or any other telecom companies looking to expand their network in the future. The fibers are neither controlled nor connected to the phone company, but the phone company provides the necessary functional components.

There are key role of dark fiber in the development of DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing).DWDM is where multiple data signals are transmitted simultaneously over the same optical fiber. DWDM is the latest technology of increasing the bandwidth and allowing more data to be sent via a pair of optical fiber. Data signals are transmitted at the same time, they are transmitted at different wavelengths to keep the data signals separate.

There are many benefits to use the dark fiber networks. They require less power and have a higher capacity, generally due to the use of DWDM. Dark Fiber often has better signal strength and is more immune to interference than the fiber making up traditional networks. Dark fiber services are provided by local exchange carriers (LECs) to maintain optical fiber transmission capacity between customer locations where light for fibers is provided by the customers. Amplification is needed for signal transmissions of more than 100 km. Virtual dark fiber is provided using coarse bandwidth division multiplexing with spacing as wide as 20 nanometers, making the system less susceptible to interference.

Conclusions

Now we have learn about the Which Type of Fiber Called the Dark Fiber? Why called the dark fiber? what is the dark fiber & why do we need it? DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) has been key in the development of Dark Fiber. Best for spreading the future network in the telecommunication systems.
